Early Years Enrichment

Enriching Every Child’s Day Through Exploration and Joy

At Tower College, enrichment is an essential part of the Early Years experience. We believe that learning through enjoyment, creativity and movement builds confidence and resilience in our youngest pupils. Alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, we provide a wide range of age-appropriate activities designed to support physical, emotional and social development.

From the moment children join us in Pre-School and Reception, they are immersed in a vibrant, stimulating environment where they can explore new interests, build friendships and express themselves freely.

A Weekly Programme with Variety and Purpose

Our Early Years enrichment programme is woven into the school week and delivered by a mix of specialist teachers and experienced staff. Activities are carefully planned to enhance pupils’ wellbeing, creativity, and confidence.

Some of the regular enrichment sessions include:

Outdoor Learning

Pupils explore our outdoor grounds, learning through play and nature. Whether they’re investigating bugs, collecting leaves, or splashing in puddles, children gain a hands-on appreciation for the world around them while building physical coordination and observation skills.

Dance

Dance sessions combine music, rhythm and movement to promote motor development, spatial awareness and self-expression – all while having fun.

Yoga and Mindfulness

Our yoga sessions teach children simple breathing and stretching techniques to help with focus, relaxation and body awareness. These early lessons in self-regulation contribute to improved attention and emotional balance.

Music and Singing

From action songs and rhythm games to early instrumental play, music supports language development, coordination and listening skills. Group singing also fosters a sense of unity and joy.

Sports and Movement

Pupils take part in regular physical development sessions. These help to improve balance, agility, cooperation and teamwork in a relaxed, inclusive way.

Learning Through Play and Enquiry

Our enrichment sessions are not ‘extras’ – they are part of our holistic approach to learning. Children are encouraged to explore and take part at their own pace, building independence, curiosity and enthusiasm for school.

We carefully observe how pupils respond to different types of enrichment and adapt the programme to reflect their needs and interests throughout the year.

Supporting Whole-Child Development

Every enrichment activity is designed to support key areas of the EYFS curriculum, including:

  • Communication and language
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Physical development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Expressive arts and design
  • Understanding the world

By combining curriculum learning with rich, hands-on experiences, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive – academically, socially and emotionally.
