At Tower College, our Physical Education (PE) curriculum is designed to nurture a lifelong love of sport and physical activity in every pupil. Across all age groups—from Early Years to Upper School—students engage in a vibrant programme of sports and activities that promote fitness, teamwork, and personal development.
EYFS and Lower School
In EYFS and Lower School, our youngest learners are introduced to the joy of movement through carefully planned, age-appropriate activities. These lessons are built around developing fundamental movement skills such as coordination, balance, and agility, as well as encouraging social interaction and teamwork.
Pupils participate in a variety of enjoyable sports and activities including football, gymnastics, dance, and athletics. Fitness games and creative movement sessions help instil healthy habits and a positive relationship with physical activity. Our goal is to inspire children to be active, imaginative, and confident from the very beginning of their educational journey.
Middle and Upper School
As students progress through Middle and Upper School, the PE curriculum becomes broader and more structured. Pupils benefit from a dynamic mix of team and individual sports designed to develop tactical understanding, skill refinement, and physical resilience.
Popular team sports such as football, netball, rugby, and handball encourage collaboration and competitive spirit. Individual disciplines like gymnastics and dance enhance flexibility, coordination, and self-expression. Pupils also enjoy seasonal sports such as cricket and rounders, as well as athletics, which includes running, jumping, and throwing events that build strength and endurance.
Competitive Opportunities
We are proud to offer our students the chance to participate in Independent Schools Association (ISA) competitions across various sports. These events provide valuable experience in competitive settings, allowing students to represent Tower College with pride. Whether competing in football, netball, or athletics, pupils develop resilience, sportsmanship, and a sense of achievement.
