Music

In addition to our class music lessons for pupils of all ages with specialist teachers, we have a well-qualified and experienced team of peripatetic instrumental teachers who, between them, can provide tuition in all instruments and voice. Lessons take place in school but costs and terms are agreed between the parent and teacher.

There are usually ten lessons per term, and peripatetic staff liaise with subject teachers regarding school trips, examination weeks etc. to ensure the smooth running of the timetables. We ensure that a suitable rota is devised so that children do not miss the same academic lesson each week.

Pupils are expected to practise regularly and arrive promptly at lessons with all their equipment, music and books. Grade Examinations are entered at the discretion of the teacher. Pupils may join the Band and/or Choir and have the opportunity, with the support of staff, to participate in local Festivals and Competitions as well as in School Assemblies, Events, Concerts and Productions.

Pupils in the kindergarten and Juniors are restricted to learning just one instrument in school, but more are permissible in Seniors.

A Music Scholarship is available for pupils who show particular promise and aptitude. The Scholarship funds the learning of another instrument throughout the years.
