Tower College is a Registered Provider of Early Years Education. Funding is made available to the school for a maximum of 12.5 hours per week for all pupils of three and four at £3.29 per hour. For full time pupils this gives £535.60 per term (at the time of going to print) which is deducted from your fees invoice in advance.

The only criterion for eligibility is age and the child must be three or four at the start of the term.

Pupils living in all Education Authorities receive their funding from St Helens, which covers Rainhill. In order to access this grant, parents or carers are asked to complete the appropriate paperwork and provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate. This can be done at the time of your uniform fitting, or by calling at the school office at a time of your convenience.

Parents who have had older siblings, relatives or friends at school will know that between 2004 and Easter 2010 we did not accept the grant because of the conditions imposed on ‘providers’ which included home visits in which teachers would have to visit your homes to ask if you have books and toys and over prescriptive (and extremely time consuming) profiling of children, as well as a highly regulated curriculum which took all spontaneity out of the children’s experience, and ‘independence’ out of the school. I am delighted to say that the requirements now are more concerned with the welfare of the pupils and the breadth of experience that they can enjoy. I am confident that our high standards will be maintained and that we will benefit, not only financially, but also from the support, advice and training that is provided by the team in St Helens.

If you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to contact either Miss Oxley (Principal) or Mrs Brown (Accounts Secretary) who will be pleased to help.
